The simplest way to make guac is to coarsely chop your avacado and mash it with a few tablespoons of your favorite salsa. Now, before you purists take umbrage, just listen. We all have a salsa we like best and the basic ingredients for salsa are also the basic ingredients for guac. This simple recipe is really tasty.
If you want to make it from scratch, so to speak, here's what you do:
- coarsely chop the avacadoes into a good-sized bowl
- add one tomato, cored, seeded, and diced
- add half a medium-sized white onion, diced
- add one jalapeno, seeded and de-veined (or one or the other or neither depending on your tolerance for heat)
- add the juice of half of a lime
- add coarse salt to taste
- fold all ingredients together
